Distinction between « Practising advocate » and « Solicitor »
A solicitor is generally a professor of law or a corporate legal advisor. He may give legal advice or draw up certain agreements but he may not plead before a tribunal.
Please refer to section 128 of the Act respecting the Barreau du Québec to know the acts that can be performed by a practising advocate and a solicitor or contact the Barreau du Québec at infobarreau@barreau.qc.ca for more details on the restrictions that apply to this type of permit.
